10. 7-year-old Britney Baxter of Atlanta was walking alone in a toy aisle at Walmart when a man snatched her up and prepared to make off with her. But Britney did exactly what she was supposed to in such circumstances: She began kicking and screaming until the creep dropped her and took off. Britney remembered what to do in her school’s Stranger Danger class. Nice job, Britney!

9. In Washington, D.C., two armed robbers entered a GameStop right around closing time and held up the place. But a sparky little 7-year-old boy who was there with his family went right up to one of them and started punching his chest before a family member dragged him away. His father later said he was a brave little boy for what he did. The robbers got away with the cash but no one was hurt.

8. An 8-year-old Maryland boy who had a few Karate lessons under his belt fought off his dad’s ex-girlfriend when she tried to kill him. Helen Newsome, 26, attacked Jacob with a dumbbell when he was in bed. But the boy head-butted her and used karate to beat her up before running away to a neighbor’s home and calling 911. Newsome had split from Jacob’s dad a few days earlier. She was charged with first-degree attempted murder.

7. Nash and his girlfriend got into a nasty fight in their Birmingham, England home, with Nash accusing her of sleeping with another man. He began threatening her with a knife when she finally called for police. The woman’s 13-year-old son then began trying to defend his mom as Nash turned his knife on him. The boy fought him off with an iron and computer screen but was stabbed in the back of the head. But he fully recovered, and Nash was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

6. Playing the online role-playing game World of Warcraft could well have saved a 12-year-old Norwegian boy named Hans and his sister. In a forest near their home, a moose attacked. But Hans knew he had to taunt the animal to divert its attention. He did this so it would give his sister the opportunity to run. He learned this in the online game. Once it was just Hans he used another skill from the game – feigning death. He did and the moose quickly lost interest and left. Hans ran safely back home.

5. 11-year-old Vaishak was walking home after visiting his grandfather. Suddenly, he was attacked by a python. As the large snake wrapped itself around the boy and tried to consume him, he saw a big rock and grabbed it, then beat the snake on the head with it. One of its eyes was badly damaged and it released the boy a slithered away. A girl who came upon Vaishak helped him up and took him to her home before transporting him to a hospital for injuries to his limbs.

4. 12-year-old Seth Cutright smelled gas just before his grandmother lit a cigarette in their Veronia, Oregon home. The propane heater then exploded, engulfing the house in flames. Seth ran into his grandmother’s room, picked her up and carried her out of the burning house to safety. Seth suffered facial burns in the fire. Soon after, the boy’s father said Seth was his hero.

3. In April of 2014, ex-boyfriend Daryl Fields burst into Rachael Moore’s Queensland, Australia, home and blasted her in the arm with his shotgun. As he was reloading the weapon, Rachael’s five children, ages 2 to 14, charged the man, with one of them jumping on his back choking him. Another grabbed his gun and struck him in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. Police soon arrived and arrested the man. The children were presented with Pride of Australia Courage medals.

2. Just a couple of weeks ago, Bowdy Shoff watched as his twin brother Brock had the bedroom dresser tip over on top of him. The boys were all alone. But Bowdy wasn’t about to let the dresser hurt his brother. So he tried to lift it, and couldn’t. Then, he pushed it, and was able to move it enough to free his brother. Pretty cool, huh? Even more amazing is the fact that the twin boys are only 2 years old. If you are a parent with young ones in the house, PLEASE anchor dressers, chests of drawers and similar furniture to the wall. It could make a really big difference in the safety of your children.

1. In Noakhali, Bangladesh, a teen boy risked his life to save a baby deer from drowning. The little fawn was separated from its family during torrential rains and floods. The boy jumped into the waters, held the fawn above his head while completely submerged and moved to an area where the baby was reunited with its family. Onlookers cheered the boy when the baby deer was back with its mother.
